In my last blog post I reflected on my goals I set for 2017 but so much more happened than what was associated with those goals and I’m not even sure I can talk about everything that happened but just know it was amazing.
As well as interviewing Jack Drinkall I also interviewed two world class curlers. Curlers? You ask, yes curlers. As part of an assessment I produced a preview package for the men’s curling at the 2018 Winter Olympics. It included interviews with Kyle Smith the captain of Team GB’s team and Olympic Bronze medalist and hopeful Gold medalist Niklas Edin, the Swedish team’s captain.
To interview two men on the world’s stage like that was an amazing experience and I finally, after 3 years of university, feel comfortable interviewing people.
Away from interviews I managed to convince the PR officer at Exeter Rugby Chiefs to allow me to come to one of their press days and saw ITV and the BBC interview some of the players who had also played for England. I was then invited to the match where I had a media pass accessing all the areas where media can go and was sat between a journalist from the Sunday Times and someone from The Guardian.
So that is briefly what I got up to last year (minus a couple of things) but what do I want to get up to this year? Here are my goals:
- 500 likes on Facebook
- 300 followers on Twitter
- 200 followers on Instagram
- 1 blog post a week
- 1 video a week
- Not to be afraid to write what I want to write (more personal blog posts)
- Be more adventurous with videos
- Live tweet as many Grand Prix as possible
- GRADUATE! (2:1 is the goal)
- GET A JOB (either an internship or a full job, ideally in social media)
- Go to a Grand Prix
- Interview two drivers
