His third consecutive win and sixth win in total, leading the race from start to finish, Lewis Hamilton proved that Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is his track.

The first place finish for Hamilton means he has closed in on the championship, now only 12 points away from Sebastian Vettel.

The race gave Mercedes their first one-two finish since Abu Dhabi last year and were joined on the podium by Daniel Ricciardo in third place.

The Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel had a hard race, after picking up front wing damage he slipped down to 18th before pulling it back and finishing 4th.

Rookie Lance Stroll picked up his first career points while Force India finished with both cars in the points.
