With his domination at the end of last season and the way he has carried it through to the start of this season it would be hard to ignore the talent Nico Rosberg has. For the past few years he has been playing second fiddle to the all powerful Lewis Hamilton, but is there a change in the air?

With us being only two Grand Prix into the season it’s impossible to call the world champion now, but a fact that cannot be ignored is anyone who has had five wins in a row has gone on to win the world championship. With Rosberg now gaining his fifth win it could be argued that this is his year.

As well as winning races Rosberg has also had the advantage on starting, he seems to have coped with the new starting procedure better than his team mate Hamilton. Getting away from the line easier has its advantages as Rosberg has quite clearly demonstrated in the past two Grand Prix.

All that remains is to see how the rest of the season goes, of course it may not be a Mercedes driver who wins this year as Ferrari have clearly demonstrated they have the power to challenge Mercedes. As upgrades come throughout the year it’s a competition that can only get tighter.

What do you think? Is this Rosberg’s year or do you want to see the reigning champion back on the top step of the podium? Let me know in the comments, Twitter or Facebook.
